Fuel prices on the increase
The price of fuel oil on world markets has increased rapidly and significantly in recent months.
In Ireland, shipping lines, ferry operators and International hauliers have all absorbed these increases to date, while fuel costs have risen by 12% in the months since December 2003.
These increase have had a major effect on our industry and we have struggled to maintain our rate structures in these difficult times. We are constantly reviewing our position but it looks more probably that fuel surcharges will need to be implemented in the near future. Any surcharges implemented will remain in force only as long as fuel prices are kept at high levels.
