EFL International Distribution and U Freight reports that new Chinese Customs, inspection and quarantine departments have set up offices in Jiujiang. We anticipate that through close cooperation with other regions of the Pearl River Delta, Jiujiang will become a strong participant in the transportation and storage of containers to the logistics market of the Pearl River Delta.

Jiujiang is adjacent to Xiqiao, Shatou, Shunde, Gaoming, Heshan and Xinhui. It's only 65 nautical miles from Macao and 90 nautical miles from Hong Kong. The Xijiang River runs through the southwest of Jiujiang, which has four wharves at present. Two are dedicated to domestic distribution, mainly delivering products such as ceramics, timber and chemical products from Xiqiao, Nanzhuang, Lechong and Longjiang. The other two are devoted to the transport of the region's exports and imports, undertaking shipment of leather goods and clothes from local enterprises, as well as industrial materials for neighbouring districts.

With the fast economic development of Nanhai and Shunde, the total amount of cargo throughput is increasing rapidly.

As the economy develops, the potential of Jiujiang Port is unlimited. Plans are afoot for the construction of the Jiujiang Logistics Zone, which will integrate transportation, bulk cargo, unloading, storage, processing and distribution services. This zone will be developed around the Nankun Wharf and other wharfs.
